1. Refined Lakeside Elegance

   A complete architectural package in reclaimed timber: flooring, beams, extensive wall paneling, cabinetry and bespoke furniture.

2. Modern Roots

   Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 2024. Beams & Timbers, Millwork & Cladding, Flooring.

   A French influenced house in white stucco and slate, with a timber pavilion built onto the back of it. Two weights on one property, and they have to agree.

3. Bow Mar Beach

   Denver, Colorado. 2022. Beams & Timbers, Millwork & Cladding.

   Two references that should not agree. Hamptons shingle on the outside, vintage Colorado lodge on the inside. The millwork is what makes them one house.

1. 1880s

   America's appetite for lumber ignites industrial logging across the Gulf South. Louisiana's old growth forests yield heart pine and cypress of unmatched density and character. The timber milled in these decades remains the gold standard for reclaimed wood today.

2. 1930

   Architect A. Hays Town begins developing his signature Louisiana vernacular, championing reclaimed timber as a material of integrity and permanence. He turns to one principal supplier: Pete Rumfolo, whose understanding of antique wood sets the standard for the trade.

3. 1980 to 90

   From the gridiron to the workshop. Shawn Burks earns All American honors at LSU before joining the Washington Redskins. After retiring from the NFL he returns to Louisiana and acquires Antique Woods, apprenticing under Pete Rumfolo to master the trade. A new chapter begins.

4. 2000

   A landmark lodge commission establishes Antique Woods as the premier supplier for luxury wilderness retreats. From Montana to the Swiss Alps, more than twenty elite hunting and ski lodges bear the mark of our craftsmanship.

5. 2020

   The mill grows into structural work. Trusses, frames and complete timber assemblies leave Louisiana for residences across North America and Europe, engineered and dry fitted in the yard before a single piece ships.

6. Present

   Today, Antique Woods stands at the intersection of heritage, craft and architectural ambition. We continue to source, mill and deliver exceptional reclaimed and fresh wood for architects, designers and builders shaping spaces of lasting value. The same principles have guided us from the beginning: integrity of material, precision of execution, and a deep respect for the living grain.

What happens after I reach out?

We listen. Drawings, photos, the room you're imagining. No charge, no obligation.

Can you match wood from an existing space?

In most cases, yes. Send us photos and, if you can, a small offcut. We mill and finish to the sample.

Do you ship outside the United States?

We do. Roughly a third of our work installs in Europe. We crate, document and sequence for the site.

What are typical lead times?

Six to twelve weeks for stock species and finishes. Structural and bespoke commissions are scheduled with your build.

Can I see and feel the material first?

Always. We send a sample box with the species, grades and finishes relevant to your project.

Can I buy something on the website?

No. There is no basket and no price list. Every product page ends in an enquiry, and the workshop quotes against the drawing, the species and the quantity.

Why are there no prices?

Reclaimed timber is priced per lot: the species, the grade, the width and what the salvage actually yielded. A published figure would be wrong for almost every job.

What is reclaimed timber, as this company uses the term?

Old growth wood recovered from buildings, structures and river salvage, mostly heart pine and cypress milled between the 1880s and the 1930s. It is denser and tighter grained than anything growing now.

What is new growth, and why is it offered beside reclaimed?

Timber from managed forests, milled and finished to the same standard. Some jobs need volume, consistency or a budget that salvage cannot meet, and the mill would rather say so than substitute quietly.

What does a product code mean?

A code reads in six parts, in this order: collection, species, cut and grade, texture, pattern, unique number. The configurator at https://www.antiquewoodsla.com/products builds one, and the full configuration for a given code lives in its data sheet rather than on the site.

Does the company work with trade professionals directly?

Yes, and most of the work arrives that way. Architects and designers specify board by board, and the mill crates, documents and sequences deliveries for the site.

Where is it made?

Everything is milled and finished in Louisiana. Nothing is drop shipped or resold.

Who runs it?

Shawn Burks. He came to the workshop after football at LSU and in the NFL, and the company has been in the family since 1985.
